Participatory approaches underpin everything I do and I have been strongly influenced by practice from the developing world.
I first came across Participatory Techniques in 2000, while working in the then Centre for Development Studies at Swansea University, and quickly realised how they might be applied to a wide range of processes including, research, evaluation, public engagement, organisational development, and facilitation. I have since made it something of a personal mission to increase awareness and usage in Wales, of these intuitive and effective methods, which are particularly well suited to a co-production approach.
I have been fortunate to work with many different organisations ranging from international foundations and academic institutions to local community groups, in Wales, the rest of Europe and further afield.
I have experience of working in different sectoral contexts including: Community Development, Early Years, Learning Disability, Social Housing, The Environment, Respect for Diversity, Refugees and Asylum Seekers, Health and Wellbeing, Museums and Heritage.
I aim to tailor all my interventions to meet the particular requirements of every organisation I work with.
